Overview
Empire Iron Works designs, fabricates and erects structural steel, miscellaneous metals, and plate work from plants located in Edmonton and Winnipeg. Empire Iron was established in 1958 as an ornamental metal fabricator, but has expanded and diversified to provide fabrication, detailing and construction services across Canada. This growth is the result of recognizing the ever increasing requirements of our clients.
Our company has built for industrial, institutional and commercial applications such as pulp mills, mines, process plants, pipe racks, conveyor galleries, warehouses, high and low rise office buildings, shopping malls, hospitals and schools. Plate steel has been processed into bridges, hydraulic gates, stop-logs, precipitators, tanks, hoppers, chutes, breeching, and engineered equipment. Empire Iron continues to challenge ourselves by undertaking projects of ever increasing size and complexity.
Complementing our 25,000 tons per year fabrication plants are painting facilities to wheelabrate, sandblast and apply multi-coat paint systems for a variety of highly corrosive environments such as pulp mills and potash mines. In order to provide customers with the highest quality of work, our staff includes professional engineers and quality assurance inspectors. This commitment to quality is enhanced by active membership in the Canadian Institute of Steel Construction (CISC), the Steel Structures Painting Council (SSPC) and Division 1 Certification by the Canadian Welding Bureau (CWB).
Fabrication Services
Empire Iron Works’ plants utilize the latest automated technologies to fabricate steel components accurately and efficiently at competitive costs. Our equipment is connected to the steel detailing software used by our detailing division to electronically share data and provide error free work. Project managers are focused on working with clients to deliver cost effective structures in a timely manner. If there is a better way, we will recommend alternative design solutions that can save both time and money.
Empire Iron purchases and tracks all steel, ensuring that we will have the right material size and grade available in a timely manner. Our component tracking system allows us to monitor project drawings, fabrication and erection progress and adjust our focus as necessary. Our welders are tested and ticketed bi-annually to verify skill level, and our QA program will exceed your most demanding quality needs.
Construction Services
EIW Construction Services, a multi-discipline trade contractor located in Winnipeg MB, provides construction and maintenance service for industrial and environmental control projects throughout western Canada. Projects employing boilermakers, carpenters, ironworkers, millwrights, operating engineers, pipefitters, cement masons and electricians, together with technical staff support are supervised by experienced construction managers to meet scheduled deadlines.
Construction services can include new works, renovations, shut-downs and maintenance. Successful projects have been performed for pulp and paper mills, water and sewage treatment plants, oilsands and heavy oil recovery plants, mine process plants, oil refineries, boiler and power plants, gas process plants, compressor stations, and materials handling facilities.
Detailing
Empire Iron Works has a full service drafting office that provides our branches with a diverse and comprehensive menu of services extending far beyond traditional paper drawings. We utilize advanced software to model, draw and track our work. Models can incorporate concrete, wood, glass, mechanical components and equipment that interact and may interfere with the steel structure.
Together this ensures that we provide accurate and complete information to all members of the construction team.
